The Project Accountant compiles customer billings for large, complex, multi-million-dollar projects and is responsible for the day-to-day accounting of project financials. This position will be the point of contact for subcontractors and customers in the areas of billing, compliance, and payments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects and proprietary information.
  • Work closely with project managers on the issuance of subcontracts, change orders, and warranty documents.
  • Review and finalize subcontractor billings and payments, ensure compliance of documentation required by the related contracts.
  • Review owner/customer contracts to understand accounting and documentation requirements for Clark Pacific and ensure adherence to contract requirements.
  • Responsible for the Accounts Receivable collection process and communicate status to project managers, subcontractors and accounting manager.
  • Reconcile customer and subcontractor accounts and communicate issues to management.
  • Complete all billing and related tasks in internal programs (Viewpoint) to reflect real-time data.
  • Coordinate with outside insurance broker for project specific insurance certificates and bonds as required.
  • Communicate cross departmentally to ensure the accuracy of information and that timelines are met.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Coordinate with Payroll Compliance to ensure certified payroll and other compliance are met.
  • Partner with FP&A to support cash forecast.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity and knowledge of construction accounting.
  • Familiarity in Cost Accounting and Accounts Payable standards/processes.
  • Ability to coordinate finance activities and manage reporting, budgets, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
  • Familiarity in OCIP/CCIP enrollment in portals such as AJG, VUE Wrap, or WTW Compass.
  • Proven capacity to multi-task and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to effectively listen and engage with all levels of the organization.
  • Builds strong relationships; engages and motivates teams representing diverse backgrounds and viewpoints; exceptionally collaborative.
  • Ability to maintain attentiveness to detail and accuracy in multiple projects without losing sight of goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent organization skills to drive topics with multiple stakeholders/interests.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills that aim to remedy and prevent reoccurrence and allow for strategic data interpretation versus
    simple reporting.
  • Comfortable escalating issues while maintaining positive relationships with team members and other organizations.
  • Passionate about Clark Pacific's vision and mission; able to promote, demonstrate, and communicate the mission, values and core competencies
    of Clark Pacific to others.
  • Able to exercise appropriate discretion when handling confidential and/or sensitive information.
  • Display willingness and interest in stepping up into greater leadership role if the situation requires or the opportunity presents itself.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu, ViewPoint by Vista, Textura or other construction accounting software.

Physical Demands
  • Frequent: Sitting at desk, utilizing computers/phones, standing/walking
  • Periodic: Repetitive foot, leg, hand, arm, shoulder, and torso movements
  • Occasional: Business travel, 5%. Bending squatting, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Experience and Education
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting role required.
  • Familiarity with construction accounting is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance related field is preferred.
