Charlestown, United States Partners Healthcare System Full time

The MGH Krantz Family Center for Cancer Center Cartography Core is a new translational research facility that combines the latest advances protein and RNA biomarker staining with quantitative digital microscopy analytics to understand cancer biology. We are a part of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Pathology and work closely with other researchers at outside institutions. Our goal is to enhance cancer research utilizing the latest high-plex imaging techniques coupled with state-of-the-art image quantification tools.

We are seeking an applicant who is highly motivated, exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. The candidate will have strong analytic and problem-solving skills required to troubleshoot experimental issues. We employ a team-based interdisciplinary approach, working with researchers from diverse backgrounds. As such, the candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others.

This is an ideal position for individuals who are interested in working at the interface of research and clinical medicine. This full-time position has potential for growth.

Quantitative digital image analysis is a key component of many Cancer Center and Pathology research projects. As a critical member of the team, the candidate would contribute to the downstream computational analysis pipelines quantitating digital images under the supervision of a staff or faculty member. Contributions will also include: assisting with hypothesis generation, experimental design, and data interpretation.

Other responsibilities include assisting the Cartography Core Manager in the maintenance and operation of imaging platforms in the group. Common tasks include training new users on advanced microscopy systems and performing image analysis using high-end commercial analysis software and computational languages such as R or Python. These skills can be learned on the job.

Skills & Competencies Required:

* Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
* Demonstrated set of strong computer skills and analytical thinking
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work as a member of a team
* Must be able to multi-task

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field Preferred: Laboratory experience in addition to class work. Experience with microscopy, immunology, histology, and informatics are a plus, but can be learned on the job.

Work will be performed under the supervision of Dr. Linda T. Nieman and Dr. David Ting (MGH Biomarker Discovery Lab, MGH Cancer Center)
