Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Research Lead, the Research Assistant will be involved in conducting experiments and assisting in clinical research studies at the neurodevelopmental pediatrics section at CSH. Activities will include subject recruitment and testing, data collection and analysis, literature review, help with IRB, and grant applications. Research populations include, but are not limited to, autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, learning and intellectual disability, language impairments, and traumatic brain injury. Research assistant position is primarily located in Mountainside, NJ.

Qualifications:

Required:

+ Bachelor's degree in behavioral or biological sciences, psychology, neuroscience, or a related discipline

+ At least two to three years of related clinical research experience, preferably in pediatric populations

+ Must complete Human Subjects Research training upon hire and maintain certificate throughout employment

+ Excellent administrative and communication skills (verbal and written), and the ability to efficiently provide frequent updates and consistent follow-up with supervisor

+ Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to effectively work with potential participants and parents, supervisors and study team, clinicians and collaborators, and hospital staff

+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details, especially with study protocol administration and data collection, and strong ability to identify problems or inconsistencies and alert supervisor in a timely manner

+ Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to new situation and work under pressure

+ Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Virtual Conference Platforms)

+ Knowledge of statistical software (SPSS) and experience with descriptive statistical analysis

+ Experience in data management with a variety of data sources (survey, administrative, and medical data)

+ Ability to work well with variety of organizations and personnel with compassion, tact and clarity

Certifications and Licenses Required:

+ Must complete Human Subjects Research training upon hire and maintain certificate throughout employment

Scheduling Requirements:

+ Full Time

+ 40 hours/week

+ Hybrid partial remote position

Essential Functions:

+ Assist the research scientist or supervising principal investigator with ongoing research studies based on the research protocols, including subject recruitment, data collection, database entry and management, statistical analysis and administrative duties

+ Review medical records for recruitment and data collection

+ Recruit, screen, enroll participants, and provide participants and caregivers with sufficient information about the study

+ Schedule, coordinate and conduct study visits

+ Obtain consent forms, administer and score neuropsychological and neurodevelopmental test batteries, and administer computer-based tasks when required

+ Assume responsibility for all documents generated during the course of the study and input all data related to the subject visit, manage electronic and paper databases, and safeguard the safety and the right to privacy for study participants

+ Monitor data collection, score data output files, conduct and/or assist with data analysis.

+ Correspond with the marketing department, if needed

+ Work closely with supervising principal investigator and research coordinator

+ Maintain documents required for the regulatory binder, investigative drug binder and any other document repositories required by the principal investigator, or regulatory entities

+ Assist with activities related to grant preparation, IRB requirements, and lab organization

+ Travel between CSH sites and attendance/recruitment at some community events
