Job Description

Ultrasound Technologist is under the direction of the Imaging Director. Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures at a level not requiring constant monitoring of technical details. They perform quality assurance and quality control activities on all exams performed in the department to meet ACR accreditation, state, and/or federal regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform general, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound procedures
  • Provide imaging assistance to the radiologist for interventional ultrasound procedures
  • Ensures reusable instruments are delivered to the appropriate department for sterilization
  • Complete the necessary procedures for sterilization per manufacturer instructions and hospital procedures
  • Responsible for preparing and documenting sterilization process chart, logs and records per hospital and regulatory guidelines
  • Must adhere to safety protocols at all times
  • Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the department Director

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED. Requires a two year allied health degree, successful completion of an Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), upon the recommendation of the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRC-DMS), and at least 1 year of experience in the field is preferred. Requires registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). New graduates must be board eligible and obtain permanent certification within six months of hire. Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
