Job Overview:

Administers respiratory treatments and therapies according to physician order and guidelines of the Respiratory Care Licensure Act

Qualifications:

Required:

* AAS degree or certificate from an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Preferred:

* One year of experience preferred, but willing to train

Certifications and Licenses Required:

* RT or RRT credentials
* NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License
* BLS
* ACLS

Scheduling Requirements:

* Per Diem

Essential Functions:

* Performs patient assessment pre, during, and post procedure for all ages groups including pediatric, adult, and geriatric
* Demonstrates competency in assessment based on patient age, as well as physical and emotional growth
* Demonstrates competence with all respiratory modalities and equipment
* Performs maintenance and quality control procedures for pulmonary function testing and blood analyzers
* Performs invasive procedures according to hospital and departmental guidelines, and endorses all critical results
* Follows disinfection and sterilization procedures
* Demonstrates knowledge of ventilation modes, weaning, and safety procedures for all age groups
* Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, clinical personnel, patients, and visitors
* Assumes role of Charge Person when indicated according to department guidelines
* Completes departmental documentation and charges by the shift end
