Due to expansion, Cummins Behavioral Health Systems, Inc., is seeking a full time Crisis Peer Recovery Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist to be part of our existing interdisciplinary team focused on addictions recovery and goal achievement to residents in Avon, Indiana within Hendricks County.
This position shall serve the mental health and addiction treatment population experiencing crisis. This position works closely with local community crisis systems including but not limited to law enforcement, emergency medical technician systems, and hospital emergency rooms. This position is mobile when necessary and in coordination with other community safety response systems. This position may work various shifts of the day/evening or over the course of the week and weekends.
Duties Include:
+ Engage in assessments, person-centered service planning, and culturally competent service delivery.
+ Use unique skills and life experiences to guide the individuals served through the multiple life challenges and opportunities that exist.
Schedule:
There are two Crisis Certified Peer Support Professional shifts available: (1) day shift opening 7:00am to 7:00pm Sunday-Wednesday; and (1) night shift opening 7:00pm to 7:00am Thursday-Saturday.
Qualifications
+ Candidates with lived experience with mental health and/or addictions.
+ A minimum of a high School Diploma or GED is required.
+ Must be able to verify completion of a state-approved Certified Health Worker/Certified Recovery Specialist (CHW/CRS) training program with passing score on certification exam and with supporting verification documentation OR the new state certification of Certified Peer Support Professional (CPSP).
+ Must have a minimum of 6 months employment experience as Peer
+ Must possess a valid driver's license.
Compensation/Benefits
+ Starting hourly pay at $20.00 per hour.
+ Salary may increase with related bachelor's degree, ability to pass bilingual exam, or work experience in a behavioral health environment.

Peer Role and Responsibilities on the Mobile Crisis Team
+ Flexible hours within a 24-hour schedule. 12-hour shifts either 7 am to 7 pm OR 7 pm to 7 am with rotation of shifts 4 one week and 3 shifts the following week. We have various crisis shifts including daytime, evening, overnight, and weekends available. Open for discussion about the shift times.
+ The Crisis Peer will be responsible for managing communication around a range of crisis situations, including telephone responses, in person care, and when deemed necessary become part of a mobile crisis response team.
+ A Crisis Peer will assist in providing risk assessments and de-escalation interventions for both existing Cummins' consumers and those not yet engaged in Cummins' services.
+ When deemed necessary, crisis team members go mobile within Hendricks County. What does this mean? At minimum, a pair of providers go to the home, school, or community to provide thorough crisis assessments and actionable steps to bring safety to the person in need. The mobile teams use contemporary and evidence-based practices (training is provided) to bring those in crisis to recovery.
+ Maintain positive, ethical, and professional working relationships with community, government agencies, and other professionals. Ability to effectively maintain work relationships.
+ Promotes a healthy work environment by demonstrating collaborative decision-making and team-building behaviors; provides peer support and motivates staff to outstanding performance.
+ Coordinate care with a variety of professionals and the consumer's natural support during and after assessments.
+ Ability to write notes in an Electronic Medical Record to update the consumer's treatment team concerning Crisis Intervention Therapist's contacts. Ability to operate PC-based programs including Microsoft Word, Teams, and Outlook.

+ The population of focus and geographic service area for Cummins Behavioral Health Services (CCBHC) is individuals with mental health and substance use disorders (SUD) in Hendricks County, Indiana. The Hendricks Co. Crisis Team gets to be a part of the initial launch of crisis services for the agency.
