SUMMARY:
The Certified Nursing Assistant Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the program's success which includes, but not limited to, securing facilities for clinical and long term care clinical rotations, establishing guidelines for the student, teacher, and clinical staff interactions and supervision, and serving as a liaison between AZ State Board of Nursing, AZ Department of Education and healthcare facilities. Responsibilities also include providing end of year documentation in preparation for applications for AZ State Board of Nursing approval.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required prior to program start date:
Visit healthcare facilities to review expectations for students.
Secure Clinical and Long Term Care Clinical Facility agreement for Fall/Spring semester.
Establish and document facility schedule for long term care clinical rotations.
Provide facilities with written objectives and guidelines for clinical rotations as requested.
Required after program start date:
Provide facilities with written objectives and guidelines for clinical rotations as requested.
Establish and document facility schedule for acute care clinical rotations.
Ensure facility has required documentation for all students (My Clinical Exchange).
Provide audit documentation in compliance with facility contracts if needed.
Ensure all My Clinical Exchange system requirements are completed for all students.
Ensure each student is compliant with clinical requirements.
Attend AZ Clinical Education Consortium meetings.
Attend monthly CNA Educator meetings.
Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
Other job related duties as assigned.
Required at the completion of the program:
Preparation of application for Arizona State Board of Nursing Program approval and site visit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Qualifications include one (1) or more of the following:One year of full-time or 1500 hours of experience teaching adults as a faculty member or clinical educator
One year of full-time or 1500 hours of experience supervising nursing assistants
Two (2) years of nursing experience which at least one year of which is in the provision of long-term care facility services required.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Hold a valid Arizona registered nurse license that is active and in good standing.
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Principles and practices of program administration.
Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
Best practices, trends and emerging technologies.
Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
Customer service principles.
Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
SKILL IN:
Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
Performing basic original research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional materials.
Maintaining and updating documentation.
Organizing and maintaining records, files and program information.
Gathering data, analyzing findings and applying logic and reason.
Authoring and preparing original reports, documents and presentations.
Researching industry trends, solutions and best practices.
Maintaining confidentiality.
Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
