Hours: 6a to 230p Monday - Friday with overtime as required including weekends and holidays. Schedule subject to change based on business necessity.

Pay Range $32 - $35 per hour

Hourly; Non-Union

Job Summary:

Serves as a gatekeeper to ensure inbound material meets company specifications and requirements. Directs customers and yard employees with respect to material flow, sorting, and upgrading.

Responsibilities:

* Inspects inbound material for grading. Issues inspection tickets annotating appropriate deductions and documents them, if needed
* Inspects inbound material for non-conforming material to determine appropriate actions, if material is found
* Communicates with sales force problematic loads and acts as liaison between Yard Manager and sales representative to determine appropriate actions; including, but not limited to, taking pictures of material and e-mailing them to the appropriate representative
* Directs yard personnel (Crane Operators, Loader Operators, SkidSteer operators, Metal Sorters, Laborers) regarding the sorting and upgrading of material piles
* Inspects outbound material for quality and sizing utilizing knowledge base of customer requirements and processing procedures
* Directs truck flow in yard to ensure safe and efficient movement. Communicates with transportation and EHS unsafe acts
* Assists Yard Supervisors and Plant Manager in determining work flow in the yard and optimum placement of materials utilizing processing procedures
* May participates in regular visits to end-user facilities (steel mills) to gain knowledge in customer requirements and material acceptance programs
* Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

* Two years supervisory experience preferred
* In-depth knowledge of material types and hazards
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing conditions
* Fluent in Spanish preferred
* Ability to navigate challenging situations diplomatically

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to wear required PPE (shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, high vis clothing)
* Ability to walk throughout yards daily regardless of weather
* Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
