Position Description

Position Title: PARAPROFESSIONAL - PRESCHOOL

QUALIFICATIONS:

* High School diploma or G.E.D. or higher.
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality about students and any experiences associate with them.
* Valid Ohio Department of Education Permit appropriate for the assignment.
* Must have experience working with children.
* Must be available for consistent employment during assigned school hours for the school year.
* Must be Highly Qualified Paraprofessional.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Special Education Supervisor, and under the

general supervision of the classroom teacher (special education and /or regular

education).

JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides service to three, four and five year olds with disabilities; provides multiple opportunities to develop skills in the areas of cognition, receptive and expressive language, fine and gross motor skills, self-help skills and social emotional development under the supervision of the intervention specialist and general education teacher. Your schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. four days per week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Assists in conducting individual and small group support with students in review of skills from class lesson plans and/or Individual Education Plan goals/objectives.
* Supervising of computer usage with student and monitoring use of software.
* Assisting student in moving from one class to another and participating in areas such as classroom, playground, gym as designated by the IEP.
* Prepares materials/aids as directed by teachers.
* Follows prescribed medical plans and/or assists students with personal hygiene care (e.g., toileting, washing hands, etc.)
* Monitors and assesses progress by gathering data and maintaining clear, accurate records to inform future planning under the supervision of the intervention specialist and general educaiton teacher.
* Following through on any other assignments directred by the teacher to maintain good learning experiences.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
* Occasional interaction among unruly children.
* Many situations that require hand motion, e.g. computer keyboard, typing, writing.
* Consistent requirements to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel. climb, and stoop.
* May require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
