CVD Lab Technician

Purpose: This hands-on position is responsible for operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) equipment to support research and development activities. This includes both lab equipment and pilot scale equipment for production trials in manufacturing plants.

Essential Functions

  • Independently operate complex CVD lab equipment
  • Troubleshoot process problems, implement solutions in a timely manner
  • Safely handle chemicals according to SDS standards
  • Continuously explore ways to improve safety of all aspects of CVD lab operation
  • Prepare glass substrates for lab depositions
  • Maintain inventory of various lab supplies
  • Operate small pilot scale equipment in laboratory and manufacturing plants
  • Participate in development and implementation of new CVD lab equipment
  • Operate box truck to transfer trial equipment and other items to nearby plants
  • Create and adhere to SOP's developed for CVD lab equipment
  • Communicate effectively with all lab personnel
  • Adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • Demonstrated hands-on technical skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving aptitude

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe and ethical behavior

Qualifications Desired:

  • Associates degree in technical field
  • Experience in industrial laboratory environment
  • Experience with handling hazardous chemicals
  • Self-starter with strong desire for learning and improvement

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • Ability to travel approximately 10-15% to various plants

  • Ability to work in team environments

  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours approximately 10-15%
  • Must possess and maintain valid driver's license
