Job Summary
We are searching for a Coordinator - Infection Control - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will function as a consultant/adviser to all areas of the Hospital in the prevention and control of both community acquired and healthcare-associated infections. You'll work with other ancillary departments in the Hospital to assist in the education of personnel, physicians, affiliated student populations and families of patients on issues involving patient care practices, JCAHO, CDC, TDH, OSHA, and other official agency requirements and employee health/safety. Located at The Woodlands, TX.
Responsibilities
* Collect data on the types and number of both community acquired and healthcare-associated infections (viral, bacterial, and fungal) on a routine basis
* Utilize culture data obtained daily from the microbiology and virology laboratories, as well as isolation surveillance rounds, to make specific recommendations to nursing personnel, house staff, attending physicians
* Administration of appropriate preventive measures to be taken when deemed necessary (to help detect and prevent potential outbreaks of specific organisms and infections in specific populations) and/or other changes in practice
* Attend the Infections Committee
* Provide the Infections Committee medical staff with information related to the types and rates of infections occurring in the Hospital
* Review all Hospital policies and practices related to infection control on a yearly basis and advises the department management of the need for revisions, deletions, and additions when appropriate (as indicated when new guidelines, regulations, or information becomes available)
* Attend educational programs on infection control and infectious disease issues to maintain a level of expertise due to new recommendations, new diseases, and resistant organisms
Qualifications
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption
* Associate's Degree In Nursing required, or Bachelor's Degree In Nursing within a Scientific related field, or Master's Degree in a Scientific Clinical Field preferred.
* RN License - Texas Board of Nursing Or CIC - Cert- Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. preferred
* 3 years healthcare infection control experience
