Job Description

Dewberry Design-Builders team is looking for a Estimator. The ideal candidate will be responsible for generating all estimating deliverables in support of project teams.

Candidates located near Los Angeles, CA, Fairfax, VA, or Raleigh, NC preferred, but open to other locations.

Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities:

* Generate consistent and accurate pricing, ability to develop accurate conceptual cost models.
* Understanding construction methods, productivity, equipment, systems and materials.
* Keep track of current material & labor pricing including escalation.
* Maintain relationships with subcontractors & material vendors.
* Make meaningful value engineering contributions.
* Ability to reconcile estimates with other consultants & design team.
* Serves as "Job Captain" for pre-construction efforts.
* Quantity take-off and pricing accuracy.
* Strategic Bid Preparation to include efficiency strategies and competitive pricing.
* Preparing technical narratives.
* Complete subcontractor/vendor solicitation.
* Understand and analyze proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate as well as code related compliance.
* Prepare bid packages and create scopes of work.
* Conduct detailed review of bids for scope gaps and ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
* Track awarded contracts as required to include: estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring materials, assist in development of project preplan.
* Expand database of subcontractors and suppliers.
* Develop, improve and maintain in-house procedures for the estimating department.

Required Skills & Required Experience

Required Experience and Education

* 5+ years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering (at least six years estimating experience) in commercial construction within all divisions. projects having estimated costs ranging from $100,000 to $15,000,000.
* Estimating experience from conceptual thru construction document phases required.
* Knowledge of estimating software such as Timberline, Cost Works, RS Means, MCACE, or others.
* 4 year degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Construction management, Architectural Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
* Technical knowledge of various mechanical and electrical systems as well as experience in all structural/architectural disciplines and code and regulatory compliance.

* Strong interpersonal and Client facing skills, Ability to coordinate and steer group efforts essential.
* Technologically oriented with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
* Industry relationships with construction design, and other relevant trade partners considered a plus.
