Job Description:

SCOPE: The Retail / Specialty Pharmacist is responsible for overseeing performance of assigned pharmacy practice / This position will ensure that the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements; complies with all applicable company operating processes, policies and procedures, codes, and standards of practice. The pharmacist will work closely with ownership, management and staff to open and operationalize a retail / specialty pharmacy.

FUNCTIONS:

1. Assumes retail / specialty pharmacy leadership responsibilities for oncology retail / specialty pharmacy to include the design, implementation and management of the pharmacy. Collaboration with physicians and other health professionals to develop drug management strategies to maximize medication utilization related to area of oncology, including but not limited to medication guidelines, clinical pathways, core measures, education, clinical research, and policy development.

2. Actively participates in multidisciplinary committees providing clinical expertise and evidence based data to assist in guiding value based practices, developing and deploying standardized treatment regimens protocols and developing and monitoring Quality Assurance / Performance Improvement initiatives. Lead and participate in pharmacy educational programs to providers and nursing team.

3. Adheres and upholds all rules and regulations as defined by governing bodies such as the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy, Food and Drug Administration, United States Pharmacopeia, etc… Meet identified department and system goals, develop and coordinate utilization reviews and prospective drug use audits. Identify and assure collection of pertinent metrics for area of specialization.

4. Participate in clinical medication and treatment review, general education and patient specific medication information and education, including specific clinical activities to ensure safe drug delivery.

5Assures reports, documents, statistical surveys, and other required data are timely completed and sent to Company management, along with analysis and recommendations as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:

LA Pharmacy License required/ BCOP preferred

Two (2) years clinical experience preferred

Three (3) to five (5) years oncology experience preferred

Experience with management of pharmacy support personnel preferred

Minimum one (1) year experience with infusion therapy and sterile compounding

Sterile compounding training, Oral oncolytic experience preferred
