Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The

Chief Purpose of this position: This position is an Open Rank (rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications), open tenure, full-time faculty position in the Division of Vascular and Critical Care Neurology. This position will serve as a faculty member of the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit in the Department of Neurology. The faculty member must be board certified in

Neurology and Neurocritical Care. The faculty member will provide patient care, engage in medical student and

neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Clinical

Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

2. Teaching

The faculty member will teach medical students, neurology fellows and critical care fellows from other services (e.g.

Anesthesiology) who are rotating on the NSICU.

3. Research

The Division of Adult Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be

expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials.

4. Service

Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as

in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

5. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

* BC in Neurology
* BS in Neurocritical Care (UCNS).
* Completion of a neurocritical care fellowship.
* Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or

commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Two or more years of neurocritical care experience.
* Experience such as clinical programmatic leadership, quality or process improvement.
* A history of participation in clinical or translational research.
