Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit- Attorney II

The Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office is seeking to fill an Assistant Public Defender II position. Primary duties include representing indigent clients in Superior Court and misdemeanor courts in the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit (Baldwin, Jones, Putnam, Jasper, Morgan, Greene, Hancock and Wilkinson Counties). Applicants must meet the qualifications and have the necessary skills to perform the job duties and responsibilities for the position: including but not limited to, preparation and presentation of cases for trials and/or pleas in both felony and misdemeanor cases. Position includes some appellate work in the Court of Appeals and Georgia Supreme Court as needed. Applicants must be a current member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia, and admitted to practice in all of the Courts of the State of Georgia. Description of Duties: The Assistant Public Defender II will provide competent and zealous representation and advocacy to indigent clients. This position performs beginning-level professional legal work and may assist in cases of routine complexity. Performs other related duties as required.

Job Description: Assistant Public Defender II

Juris Doctorate from an accredited college or university AND license to practice law in the State of Georgia OR eligibility to sit for the next Georgia Bar examination OR reciprocity AND One year of relevant legal experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Attorney 1 (LEP020).
