WSU AmeriCorps - Children First Coordinator

Provide social and emotional support to students, staff, and families at assigned schools. Assist families and students at assigned schools by conducting assessments, connecting families with community resources, referring to other agencies, coordinating health screenings, and appropriate follow-up. Provide or coordinate material/ financial support to families and students as is available. This includes distribution of basic needs items, such as gifts cards for shoes, uniforms, and other school supplies. Work as a team player: support the Children 1st social work team, the organization as a whole, and the school faculty/staff. Keep timely and thorough records on interventions provided and programs offered by entering data into Apricot (cloud-based software). Be mindful of confidentiality. Member Duties : Provide social and emotional support to students, staff, and families at assigned schools. This includes individual student support, crisis management, consultation with school staff, behavioral interventions, and coordinating care with outside agencies. Provide case management to families and students at assigned schools and in the community. This includes conducting assessments, connecting families with community resources, referring to other agencies, coordinating health screenings, and appropriate follow-up. Provide or coordinate material/ financial support to families and students as is available. This includes distribution of basic needs items, such as gifts cards for shoes, uniforms, and other school supplies. Keep records on interventions provided and programs offered. This includes data entry, individual files, group records, DCF reports, safety plans, etc. Staff must ensure confidentiality for all parties involved.
