ESSENTIAL DSP/Direct Support JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Direct Support Professional, you support the individuals receiving services from SIRS to...
  • Achieve goals the individual selects.
  • Achieve as much independence as possible.
  • Feel supported in daily living to create a safe & healthy life.
  • Make each day the BEST day.
  • Depending on position, this could include assisting individuals with activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring while encouraging the individual to perform as much self-care as possible. Understanding and utilizing adaptive equipment including wheelchairs and belts/locks, Hoyer lifts, etc. and be able to securely load and unload clients'. (Note: Not applicable to all positions.)
  • Driving individuals to daily appointments, work, day programs, recreation events, and stores as needed.
  • Completing medication records and counts.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for individual(s). Performing general housekeeping and teaching/supporting individual(s) to perform housekeeping.
  • Completes all trainings including new hire, on the job and annual trainings within the designated timeframe.
  • Understands and follows proper physical safety and emergency protocols.
  • Completes all documentation accurately and timely.

Qualifications:
  • The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
  • Valid driver's license, with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must pass a drug screen and comprehensive background check.

Requirements:
  • CPR/First Aid - provided.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to grasp the equivalent of a 12 oz. can.
  • Must have reliable transportation and current vehicle insurance.
  • Must be able to assist with personal care.

Schedule:
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and every other weekend 12pm-4pm
  • part-time
