Charles Evans Center has an opportunity for a part-time Neurologist (Bethpage location) 2 days a month.

The mission of Charles Evans Center (CEC) is to improve the health and quality of life of underserved populations including those with autism and developmental disabilities. Overseen by culturally sensitive, credentialed medical staff, our patient-centered approach, high-quality primary and specialty services are provided regardless of a patient's background or ability to pay.

Primary Purpose of Job:

Provide evaluation, treatment and follow-up services to developmentally disabled patients.

Essential Functions:

+ Provide direct care through evaluation, treatment and follow-up.

+ Perform all aspects of patient care, including greeting, history taking, and medical procedures.

+ Insure patients receive appropriate follow-up care and instructions.

+ Demonstrate willingness to be flexible in meeting the needs of individual patients and of their caretakers.

+ Work with direct care staff in a cooperative, informative and non-confrontational manner.

+ Work in concert with nursing staff for efficient management of patient flow.

+ Make appropriate referrals within CEC for specialty care and consultation.

+ Engage in informal consultation with CEC specialists and clinicians to ensure coordinated care.

+ Be available for after-hours emergencies and consultations.

We require the following:

+ Physician licensed by and currently registered with the New York State Education Department in area of specialty.

+ Qualified by training, experience to treat persons with developmental disabilities.

+ Board Certification or Board Eligible.

+ Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License.

+ Possession of own malpractice insurance (or through hospital affiliation

This is a part-time position requiring 2 full days a month.
