Technologist must possess knowledge and ability to obtain and submit quality images for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes under the direction of a Radiologist, as well as presenting a professional, compassionate and ethical approach in all human interactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner in all interactions using Hutchinson Regional Medical Center's Mission Statement and Core Values as a guide.
* Ensure proper patient identity by checking two forms of identification per hospital policy, and confirming physician orders.
* Attend and complete all mandatory meetings and in-services, as well as Hospital assigned continuing education.
* Complete and maintain departmental competency checklists
* Effectively utilize resources and time.
* Identify and report issues and concerns to effectively solve problems.
* Show interest, and actively participate in Process Improvement projects, both departmentally and hospital wide.
* Be able to collaborate with others in a team environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
* Demonstrate an ability to effectively listen and communicate with medical professionals, students, patients and families.
* Show accountability through adherence to all hospital policies referenced in the employee handbook, such as but not limited to; attendance, dress code, etc.
* Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
* Serve a population newborn through geriatric.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and proper MRI Positioning and Coil selection in accordance with departmental protocols.
* Demonstrates competency in ensuring patient safety at all times.
* Completes continuing education biannually in accordance with Kansas State and ARRT regulations for current licensing and registration purposes.
* Demonstrates ability to verify physician orders, and ensure proper reason for procedures.
* Effectively communicates the exam requirements, risks and benefits in order to ease anxiety and obtain informed consent.
* Ensures that all metallic objects are removed or are safe in the MRI environment prior to exposure to the magnetic field.
* Follows manufactures guidelines and operates equipment accordingly to reduce or eliminate the risk of patient or staff injury to include projectiles and burns.
* Maintains annual IV competency per hospital protocol.
* Reviews all completed MRI all pre-screening forms for patients, and family members that may enter the MRI environment.
* Demonstrates knowledge of proper contrast administration regarding route, dose, and creatine clearance per department protocol and documents administration of said contrast.
* Consults Radiologist for scanning protocols outside of routine exams.
* Determines pregnancy status of all females of childbearing age.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
* One year working experience as MRI Technologist.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

* Experience in performing CT scans.

REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

* Current registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography.
* Currently registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI, or registry eligible by the ARRT and will obtain MRI registry within six months of hire date.
* Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Kansas (LRT).
* Healthcare Provider BLS through AHA or ARC before start date.
