About the Role

The primary function of our Supervisor role is to manage the employees and facility during their shift. This role is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the pets in our care as well as employees working during their shift. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring compliance with Whiskers Resort & Pet Spa's standards, protocols, and policies.

Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights (until 10pm), weekends and holidays. Generally, scheduled shift will be 2pm - 10pm.

Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks
  • Serve as the primary/initial contact for issues that arise during the shift with minimum direct supervision.
  • Supervise weekend staff and oversee assigned tasks.
  • Delegate and monitor the completion of activities and tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, protocols, and policies.
  • Ensure the safety of dogs, employees, and clients at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to meet or exceed customer service standards.
  • Coordinate health/medical issues with client veterinarians and/or emergency veterinary clinics.
  • Manage all weather-related situations, including inclement weather, heat, cold, and storms.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and kennel maintenance during weekend hours of operation.
  • Ensure coverage of shifts or re-allocation of tasks in short-notice/emergency/call-in situations.
  • Contact appropriate management in a timely manner when issues needing escalation arise.
  • Act as a liaison between departments (e.g., kennel, front desk, bathing, grooming).
  • Provide coverage for Kennel Manager vacations and/or other time off.
  • Offer guidance, coaching, and direction to staff at all times, whether acting as a supervisor or in another role.

Basic Job Knowledge
Note: Candidates do not need to be proficient in the following areas; additional training will be provided for selected individuals.
  • Health Protocols: vaccinations, fecal examinations, bloat, kennel cough, wound care, dogs in heat.
  • Emergency Protocols: pet injuries/illness, employee injuries/illness, facility operations, and weather-related issues.
  • Preparation/serving meals, and medication administration.
  • Basic Front Desk Tasks: answering phones, check-in/out process, tours.
  • Bathing Equipment and Techniques: basic understanding of equipment, techniques, and products used.
