Job Description

The Valet Driver transports patients to specific areas of the hospital and also parks guests' vehicles in predetermined areas within the parking lot, following all traffic laws etc. Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
  • 5 years of good driving experience: no more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years and zero DUI convictions or reckless driving convictions; periodic motor vehicle/ driving record checks may be obtained throughout employment.
  • High School or equivalent
  • Able to push, pull, lift or carry on a regular basis. Good Communication and Customer Service Skills.
  • Valid Louisiana driver's license with NO severe violations in the past 3 years.
  1. Hospital patients, family members are greeted, welcomed, and transported to their rooms, ancillary areas, and outlying locations as needed.
  2. Patients are transported to and from designated areas of the hospital and to outlying locations in a caring, considerate, expedient, and professional manner at all times.
  3. Patient identification bracelet is on patients before transporting patients and demonstrates compassion and respect in all contacts with patients, family, and fellow employees at all times.
  4. Epic rover system is utilized by accurately reporting of delays associated with transports and updates at correct times throughout transport process to ensure smooth and timely operations at all times.
  5. Ticket to ride is obtained and accurately completed, as required by non-licensed employees, ensures nursing and diagnostic areas complete correctly and turns in promptly at end of return or one-way transports at all times.
  6. Wheelchairs and stretcher are kept clean ,made -up, and stored appropriately, reports non-functioning equipment immediately, reports amount of clean linen in order to ensure availability at all times.
  7. Accurate patient care documentation is maintained on transporter cards , and sign in/out logs in an effort to enhance unit operational efficiently 100% of the time. Notifies appropriate personnel when patient care problems arise (e.g.. non-functional I.V. , cardiac arrest, patient distress) immediately.
  8. All equipment , supplies, facilities, and resources are utilized in a prudent and efficient manner in order to ensure efficient departmental operations and the provision of high quality health care services.
  9. Supervisor is notified of vehicle service issues and assures that the vehicles are clean and safe to operate at all times.
  10. All traffic regulations are followed 100% of time and has zero occurrences of accidents due to own fault. Any violations are reported to the manager immediately. Valet drivers are responsible for entering information into the SMS Valet system and parking vehicle in the appropriate valet area.
  11. All keys will be left with security after Valet is closed. Shuttle will be cleaned and orderly condition at the end of shift/when altered by SMS valet system and all logs completed.
  12. Other duties as assigned are completed.
  13. Actively anticipates in educational program, in-service meetings, and training sessions in a effort to share his/her expertise in job duties and responsibilities as needed.
