The Infection Prevention Specialist is considered an Infection Prevention Practitioner. An IP Specialist is expected to work autonomously and should not require mentorship in their role.

All Infection Preventionists (IPs) are accountable for implementation of and compliance with policies, practices, and processes of the infection prevention program at the facility, region, division and system level. In collaboration with the IP leadership, IP medical director, and IP peers, all IPs will follow all current local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, and regulations.

Infection Preventionists provide infection prevention consultative services focused on providing the highest quality care at the lowest cost to patient and organization.

Required qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Lab Sciences, Microbiology or related health science field or equivalent education/experience
* National Certified in Infection Control - Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology within 1 year of hire.
* 1 year of Healthcare Experience
* 1 year of Epidemiology Experience

Preferred qualifications:

* Master's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Lab Sciences, Microbiology or related health science field or equivalent education/experience
* 4 years of Healthcare Experience
* 2 years of Epidemiology Experience
