Description:

This position serves as a Recovery Support Coach for the Recovery Support Services (RSS) program to engage participants seeking services at their storefront offices. Recovery coaching is a specific type of one-on-one social support that is best provided by peers, and that addresses the holistic support needs that a client may have, including emotional, informational and affiliation related support. Using peers as recovery coaches, they can highlight their personal experiences with recovery and serve as a model for addressing relapse and other challenges encountered.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Identify and access potential participants of the RSS program, describe the Recovery Coaching RSS program to potential participants.
* Administer consent and intake to potential participants who express interest in the program, conduct the RSS related interview(s) in a private space.
* Create and maintain client files regarding RSS activities with UIC - COIP. Prepare program-related documents for weekly submission to RSS Manager.
* Create and deliver referrals for internal and external agency services for client.
* Establish and support the client's Recovery Plan by helping to set short term goals and motivate the person toward recovery.
* Develop a helpful, confidential and supportive relationship with clients and provide informal guidance, act as a sounding board, and build client's confidence and hope.
* Maintain and distribute transportation cards/vouchers used by qualifying participants, maintain all equipment, forms, and supplies (general and monetary) connected with the project in a locked and secured space at the respective field station.
* Participate in RSS - and COIP staff meetings, staff training, supervisory sessions, and aid in the development of positive team relationships.
* Adhere to agency policy procedures and professional codes of ethics (UIC, and others as identified/as needed).
* Maintain a high level of privacy that is compliant with UIC's and other partnering agencies HIPPA protocols.
* To identify agencies and opportunities that can provide supportive services for RSS program participants.
* To network with external agencies and share such information with RSS Manager and COIP Supervisory Team.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Possession of qualifications established for the specific program for which the candidate is applying.
* Eligibility for employment under the provisions of the Statute and Rules governing the State Universities Civil Service System of Illinois.
