Commercial Fleet Service Technician

Colony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Fleet Service Technician to join our team Our technicians work for competitive pay in a fast-paced environment. Summary:

Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles. Employee will be required to diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet and specialized vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Must have a valid drivers license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
* Diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet and specialized vehicles.
* Service vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levels.
* Maintain vehicle records such as mileage logs, maintenance schedules, recall/warranty issues, and repairs needed and completed.
* Observe vehicle safety and warning indicators and make needed corrections.
* Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repair
* Assist with fleet vehicle repair after damage and/or repair.
* Conduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipment.
* Keep records related to work accomplished or products used.
* Follow established procedures to inspect tires, and wheels before and after service.
* Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.
* Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
* Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.
* Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
* Mount and dismount any type of tire on drop center, semi-drop center and multi-piece rims.
* Match mating of dual assemblies.
* Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.
* Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
* Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
* Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely.

* Mechanical- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

* Operation Monitoring- watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

* Static Strength- the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
* Knowledge of commonly used tools- Ability to recognize and used a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, such as lathes and grinning machines, jack sand hoists, and common hand tools.
* Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment- Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
* Performing General Physical Activities- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling or materials.
* Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material- Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
* Making Decisions and Solving Problems- Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
