DESCRIPTION

Decypher is seeking qualified Diagnostic Radiologic Medical Physicist to support the mission at Ft. Belvoir

RESPONSIBILITIES

Shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses and medical staff members.

. Shall be able to function independently.

Possess basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, and the Internet. A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center, (ATAMMC) Fort Belvoir, Virginia. uses an electronic medical record.

Shall demonstrate ability in the areas of interpersonal relations, problem solving and conflict resolution.

The contractor shall report to work rested and fully physically and mentally capable of performing the duties required under this contract Any Contract personnel found to be unacceptable in administering skills required by the Contract shall be immediately released from duty by the 29 Contracting Officers Representative (COR). The COR will immediately notify the Contracting Officer.

. SPECIFIC DUTIES/TASKS THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall not introduce new procedures of services without prior approval of the Department Chief, or counterpart. In disagreements or deviations from established or new protocols, the Department Chief or counterpart, will be the deciding authority. The Department Chief or counterpart will define the scope of practice and establish practices.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall plan and initiate proper radiological surveys and calibrations within the Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicists defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing, the findings and planned disposition of equipment. 5

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall provide acceptance testing and periodic surveys of all medical imaging systems to include general purpose radiographic/fluoroscopic units, computed tomography (CT) digital radiographic units, mammographic units, c-arms, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) units and ultrasound units.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall develop, modify, and maintain a quality management program for all digital equipment systems in the PACs within the National Capital Region.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall conduct all medical physics services required under Federal Law for all mammographic operations within the National Capital Region and NARMC as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology, ATAMMC.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall develop and maintain a quality control program for digital radiology (DR). This includes acceptance and periodic testing of DR systems, QC stations and associated equipment.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall teach medical physics to the medical residents and technologists within Radiology as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology. Teaching services to other departments will be provided as approved by the Chief, Department of Radiology.

. Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall educate diagnostic imaging staff to ensure efficient implementation of new technology.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall participate as part of the Radiology team in assessing procurement actions for new Radiology systems. This includes preparing technical comparisons between vendor 30 systems, site visits, specification preparation for purchase and assistance in evaluation of vendor bids.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall maintain continuing medical physics education by reading journals and books.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall Attend and participate in all meetings, staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities as directed by Chief, department of Radiology.

Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall travel to perform equipment surveys and mission related professional conferences as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology; this includes mission service throughout NARMC. Additional services requested outside MARMC must be approved by the Chief, Department of Radiology. Travel must be in accordance with the 15. Joint Travel Regulation (JTR). Contractor shall provide appropriate receipts and invoices with payment. 16. Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall perform other services, assignments, projects, or studies deemed appropriate by the Chief, Department of Radiology. 17. Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall maintain additional skills acquired through further training and experience. 18. Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist will be employed under the supervision of a government provided official who remains accountable for the Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicists survey and calibration results. 19. Contractor Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist shall make use of all available equipment, supplies and services (ancillary and administrative), for the optimal performance of duties. 20. Other performance factors will be monitored that are not quantified by numerical measurements which include: quality of lectures, acceptance testing reports and mammographic services as identified through document reviews by FDA inspectors, JC surveys, medical staff feedback and timely submission on license renewals. 21. Department supervisory personnel will monitor performance through government information systems, records, peer review, customer service information, contractor reports and timesheets. The contract Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist performing services under this contract shall have sufficient skills to perform tasks that may include the following: ? Complete all required paperwork IAW JC guidelines and local protocol ? Provide acceptance testing and periodic surveys of all medical imaging systems ? Utilize paraprofessionals as appropriate ? Use and maintain assigned equipment 31 OTHER TASK AND RESPONSIBLITIES THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT LIMITED TO: 1. Shall perform essentially the same duties as those required of any military or government civil service Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist of similar experience and in similar duty assignments. 2. Under the supervision of the chief, Department of Radiology, the Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist must utilize appropriate interview skills to collect data, identify equipment/system problems and provide input to Radiology leadership. 3. Provide a wide range of diagnostic support duties that include imaging system calibration and surveys IAW established policy/guidelines. 4. Take immediate action to identify system deficiencies based on observed technologist/user information provided. 5. Notify Department Supervisor, Section supervisor, NCO, or QC tech of changes in equipment usage status. 6. Maintain record of survey/calibration log sheets. May initiate arrangements for follow-up system assessment. 7. Support unit activities by participating in unit in-service instruction, quality assurance monitoring and performance improvement. 8. Assist with orientation and training of new staff members. 9. Complete additional tasks as assigned by Chief, Department of Radiology, or his/her designated representative. 10. Skill in written, verbal, and basic nonverbal communication (to include medical terminology) sufficient to obtain, disseminate and/or document information pertinent to the level of practice 11. Skill in interpersonal relationships sufficient to reassure and gain confidence of staff. 12. Knowledge of appropriate administrative policies and procedures. 13. Knowledge sufficient to assess, plan, make, prioritize assignments, communicate, follow up, coordinate, and evaluate effectiveness service provided 14. Knowledge of appropriate administrative policies and procedures. 15. Knowledge sufficient to assess, plan, make, prioritize assignments, communicate 16. Ability to understand written instructions, standard operating procedure. manuals, and hospital regulations. 17. Understand where to reference guidelines as needed. Quality Improvement shall include the following responsibilities: ? Assist in quality improvement data collection and review ? Help with problem solving regarding quality improvement issues ? Participate in multidisciplinary functional groups and process action teams as needed ? Participate in all mandatory training ? Review and submit reports as required

The work affects the attitude of the technologists and the accuracy and acceptability of further surveys/calibration services.

. Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, customers in person and via telephone. The employee must maintain courteous and respectful behavior.

Employee may be required to lift objects greater than 50 pounds. The work requires common physical characteristics such as average alertness, attention to detail, agility, and dexterity. There is regular use of a computer for monitoring, charting, and receiving hospital wide messages.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree/Education (5.2.4): Hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree with concentration in Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.

Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): The Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist is required to possess and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification as stated in AR 40-68, Clinical Quality Management, requirements of FBCH. BLS provided by the American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/AED Professional Rescuer Course is the appropriate standard of training for all BLS certification.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience performing medical physics/health physics services, including medical physics services in mammography

Board Certification (5.2.6.4.4): Posses board certification form the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiological Physics or meet the Medical Physicists qualification requirements of the Food and Drug Administration as outlined in Title 21 Code of Federal Regulation Part 900.12(a)(3).

Licensure/Registration: Valid state license in one (1) of the fifty (50) United States to provide health physics services for diagnostic radiology surveys and medical physics services for mammography. Licenses and certificates must be renewed and maintained for duration of the contract.
