General Role and Responsibilities:

The recess aide will provide supervision and monitoring of the cafeteria and playground activities under the direction of the principal and assistant principal at a K-6 elementary school.

General Skills and Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED Equivalent
* Ability to respectfully work with children and adults
* Able to pass a required background check

Specific Responsibilities in This Position:

* Follow the stated expectations of the Principal and Assistant Principal
* Establish and enforce an orderly process for arrival/dismissal of lunch/recess
* Communicate serious student infractions/concerns with teachers/administrators
* Encourage safe and positive play and cooperation
* Assist students with any medical/emergency situations in the cafeteria/at recess
* Serve as a model of conflict-resolution
* Perform all other duties assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal

Specific Skills and Knowledge for this position:

* Ability to self-regulate emotions and model respectful behavior and language
* Cooperate with other recess aides and work as a team
* Maintain in strict confidence all student information
* Have a knowledge of student code of conduct and consequences

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to perform physical duties both indoors and outdoors
* Good physical health and ability to perform assigned duties
