A Project DAWN Prevention Educator contributes to AHF by utilizing strong experience in understanding the social deterrents of people who use intravenuous drugs and a thorough understanding of narcan and its use for the prevention of opioid overdoses. With a caring and knowledgeable fous, you will work with our network of partners to be able to distribute narcan to those at greatest risk of opioid overdose. This will include providing education on how to identify and respond to an opioid overdose and building relationships within Cuyahoga County to create new partnerships for narcan distribution. You will draw on your experience and skills in understanding the drug using population to be able to best assist and educate those who are at risk of opioid overdoses to obtain narcan. In this way you will support the patient’s ability to help prevent fatal opioid overdoses within Cuyahoga County.  

 

A Project DAWN Prevention Educator enhances the reputation of AHF by utilizing your experience with the substance using community; you will meet our members where they are, to educate them on the risk of opioid overdoses and the use of narcan to prevent fatalities from opioid overdoses. With you skills of collaboration and engagement, you will bring the essene of the Project DAWN pgoram to community members who have substance abuse issues. Beyond the scope of the contract, your work contributes to measures established by the Department of Community Harm Reduction at the Ohio Department of Health..

AHF has a collaborative organizational structure where staff are accountable to multiple leaders. 

 

The Project DAWN Prevention Educator will work as a part of a close knit team to help distribute naloxone throughout Cuyahoga County to those most at risk of opioid overdoses.
