Literacy Interventionist/Para Specialist (Anticipated Academic Interventionist)

Shelburne Community School seeks a full time, energetic academic interventionist paraeducator to join our Literacy Team. We are looking for a long-term sub for the remainder of this school year ('23-'24) to join our cohort of highly skilled, caring individuals with specific knowledge and expertise in teaching reading, writing, and word study in small groups
and 1:1 settings. Candidate will work under the supervision of the principals and collaborate with the MTSS team, Literacy Coordinator, and grade level teaching teams.

Some of the responsibilities for this position may include:
?Promoting a positive school climate by establishing trusting relationships with students and staff
?Working collaboratively with faculty to help students learn
?Collecting and analyzing data and student evidence of learning
?Develop and implement elements of student instructional and behavioral plans
?Supervising lunch and recess periods

The successful candidate is likely to:
?Demonstrate a history of supporting students and teachers
?Understand the developmental and emotional differences between pre-school, primary, and middle school students and
demonstrate the ability to quickly adapt to working with all of these groups in a fluid manner
?Have the desire to work on a team and across teams
?Communicate with clarity in-person and in writing
?Extensive experience in classroom literacy instruction and intervention at the K-8 level
?Knowledge of K-8 literacy and writing progressions
?Deep understanding of Proficiency-Based Learning pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
?Excellent verbal and written communication skills
?Attention to detail and a flexible approach to work
?Collaborative problem-solving skills
?Strong organization and planning skills
?Passion for lifelong learning and professional growth
?Deep understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports and Act 173
?Experience in using data to drive instructional decisions
?Be willing to have fun on the job and see the school as a positive and supportive learning environment

Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, an understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Demonstrate the ability to build relationships and rapport with students and school teams. Additional training is available to meet the programmatic needs of the teaching team and its students.
