Overview: Skillz Inc. seeks a highly skilled and motivated In-House Counsel to join our legal team. As the In-House Counsel specializing in contract management, systems, and drafting, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our contractual processes. This position requires an active Bar membership, and experience in the tech and gaming industries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

* Contract Management:
* Oversee the entire contract lifecycle from initiation to execution and closure.


* Develop and implement contract management strategies and policies.


* Ensure compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and industry standards.


* Manage contract repositories and organize contracts for easy access and retrieval.


* Monitor contract performance and handle any disputes or issues that may arise.




* Contract Systems:
* Evaluate, implement, and manage contract management software and tools.


* Customize contract management systems to align with company needs and workflows.


* Provide training and support to internal teams on using contract management systems effectively.


* Continuously improve contract systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.




* Contract Drafting:
* Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts, including vendor agreements, licensing agreements, and service contracts.


* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including business development, finance, and product teams, to ensure contracts meet business objectives.


* Develop standardized contract templates and clauses to streamline the drafting process.


* Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes impacting contracts and update templates accordingly.





Qualifications:

* J.D. degree and active bar membership


* 4+ years of experience in contract management and drafting, preferably in the tech or gaming industry.


* Strong understanding of contract law, ability to work with outside counsel on IP, litigation and compliance issues.


* Experience with contract management software and tools.


* Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.


* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.


* Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.



Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience working with gaming platforms or mobile apps.


* Familiarity with regulatory frameworks relevant to the tech and gaming industries.


* Previous in-house counsel experience is a plus.



Skillz offers competitive compensation packages with a salary,and restricted stock grants. Generous company-paid benefits, time-off, leave, 401k match, etc. Check out our career page for more information. Total compensation starts at $143,000. Actual pay will depend on varying circumstances, including leveling, experience, and location.
