JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Polysomnographer (RPSGT) is a licensed professional accountable for direct and indirect patient assessment, patient care, and monitoring outcomes of care. The RPSGT will demonstrate safe and competent care and diagnostics to provide the physicians with accurate test data.

Current licensure by the State of Idaho Board of Medicine as a Respiratory Care Practitioner or a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. "Registered polysomnographic technologist" means a person who holds a permit as set forth in section 54-4304A, Idaho Code, and who works under the supervision of an Idaho licensed physician to provide polysomnography related respiratory care services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Current licensure by the State of Idaho Board of Medicine as a Respiratory Care Practitioner or a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist.

Graduate of A.M.A. approved, J.R.C.R.T.E. accredited school of Respiratory Therapy

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides necessary education and changes needed to maintain accreditation with the American Association of Sleep Medicine.

Revises policies and goes through in detail all recommendations for successful accreditation

Call or text physicians with questions and concerns with out of center and in house sleep studies during physician hours

Maintain and deal with all sleep lab equipment issues, including technology issues, Material issues and supply issues.

Oversee scheduling to meet demands of facility, physician, and patient

Perform and score out of center sleep studies on day shift.

Score sleep studies on day shift from previous night sleep studies

Perform MSLT on day shift.

Perform overnight oximetry

Show patient how to use device

Download device

Submit report to ordering physician

Occasional: Maximum of 40 lbs. from floor to waist height, 3 x day.

* Carry: Up to 5 lbs., 300+ ft 10 X day
* Fine Motor: High degree required patient hook-up and computer use
* Computer: Up to 8 hours per day on average
* Standing: Up to 1 hours at one time and 3 hours in one day
* Sitting: Up to 1 hour at one time and 9 hours in one day
* Kneeling: Up to 1 minute at one time and 15 minutes in one day
* Crawling: None
* Stooping: Up to 1 minutes at one time and 15 minutes in one day
* Driving: None

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Location: Inside. Regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne disease. May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to unpleasant patient elements, i.e., accidents, injuries, and illnesses. Subjected to varying and unpredictable situations, emergencies, and crisis situations. Occasionally subjected to irregular hours/shifts.
