ABA BEHAVIOR THERAPIST

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.)
  • BCBA (Board Certified Behavioral Analysis)
  • Such additions or alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: The principal, child study team coordinator, and department Director/Supervisor.

JOB GOAL: Deliver ABA therapy to children who have an educational and or medical diagnosis of autism or have developmental delays in cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication development.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ABA Behavior Therapist will work with students to:
  1. Utilize principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis, Verbal Behavior, DIR/Floor time techniques, and Social Skills training.
  2. Develop student behavioral plans.
  3. Implement programs and behavior protocols.
  4. Collect and analysis student data.
  5. Prepare behavioral portfolios for students.
  6. Collaborate with the Child Study Team to organize educational assessments, placement input and the development of IEP's.
  7. Provide individual interventions by implementing and monitoring the ABA intervention plan.
  8. Ensure that all lEP objectives are met.
  9. Align behavioral plans with the NJCCC and Common Core Standards.
  10. Report test results by interpreting, analyzing, documenting data, and completing progress reports.

The ABA Behavior Therapist will also:
  1. Work as a member of an interdisciplinary team to create behavioral supports for students.
  2. Maintain professionalism.
  3. Make an effort to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with parents, students, peers and employer.
  4. Adhere to the policies and procedures adopted by the board of education, administrative directives, and state and federal regulations which are appropriate to the position.
  5. Make an effort to provide for the intellectual, emotional, social, and physical needs of the students as directed by the certified staff member(s).
  6. Demonstrate competence in his/her work; be punctual and prompt in completion of assignments.
  7. Participate in workshops, in service programs and staff meetings as requested.
  8. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks and participating in professional organizations.
  9. Perform such other tasks as may from time to time be assigned by his/her supervisor.
