Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse Operating Room (OR)

Job Specialty: Operating Room / Circulate

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days - 8 hours, Monday to Friday, Variable Start 6:45 am-9 am

Guaranteed Hours: 32 per week

Experience: Minimum of 2 years required; 1-3 years of related experience in a multi-specialty operating room, preferably in a hospital and ambulatory surgery setting.

License: Registered Nurse - State Licensure RN

Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS)

Must-Have: Ophthalmology skills are required.

Job Description:

- Patient Care Duties:
- Perform professional intra-operative nursing care to ensure a caring patient experience.
- Coordinate with other disciplines involved in providing patient care.
- Review inventory and stock levels of equipment and supplies prior to procedures.
- Ensure patient safety during transportation, transferring, and positioning.
- Assist during patient induction and emergence.
- Complete appropriate medical documentation and respond to patient requests.
- Evaluate outcomes and adjust nursing care processes as necessary.

- Safety and Infection Control Duties:
- Adhere to safety requirements and procedures for a safe work environment.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and enforce infection control practices.
- Participate actively in the time-out process to ensure procedure safety.
- Complete incident documentation and identify unsafe conditions.
- Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures.

- Administrative Duties:
- Promote a positive working environment and provide backup support.
- Provide orientations and training courses for new employees.
- Maintain and review inventory levels.
- Suggest policy and procedure enhancements.

- Competencies:
- Exhibit leadership, strategic thinking, cost management, and technical skills.
- Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork.
- Exhibit judgment, problem-solving, professionalism, adaptability, and stress management.
- Display initiative and innovation.

- Qualifications:
- Education: Degree from an accredited school of nursing or a Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of algebra and geometry.
- Reasoning Ability: Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Healthcare Business Acumen: Knowledge in safeguarding patient data and PHI.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in Internet, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software.
