General Summary: This position is mainly to Coordinate the day-to-day clerical functions of the Wound Care Department, i.e., scheduling, clerical priorities and department meetings.

As directed by the Wound Care Director, the flex aide may also provide support for Wound Care Clinicians in patient care. Including preparation of patients prior to session and aftercare.

All RRH employees must perform their job responsibilities according to all RRH Hospital policies, as well as to accrediting organizations, federal and state regulation, and to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, as applicable.

Job Qualifications:

- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.

- Personal Job-Related Skills: Effective Oral and Written Communication ability and Microsoft office skills.

- Licensure, Registry or Certification: None Required.

- Experience:

o Prior Work: Clerical Experience preferred

o Technical Training: None Required.

- Physical and Mental requirement: Organization, analyzing information, professionalism, problem solving and verbal and written communication.

Clerical Part: Ability to perform clerical duties including scheduling, obtaining insurance verification and preapproval for patient procedures. Provide exceptional Customer care. Answering phones in a professional manner.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Clerical:

1. Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information.

2. Conducts insurance verification for Medicare, private pay, and worker's compensation patients.

3. Seeks out and obtains preapprovals for patient procedures required in the Wound Care Department.

4. Performs daily scheduling of patients and clinicians' schedule.

5. Educated in all aspects of appropriate software needed to perform the duties of Clerical Assistant.

6. Assists with maintaining logs, reports, and patient/department files.

7. Answers and routes calls in a polite and professional manner.

8. Greets, directs, and assists patients, visitors, and personnel from other departments in a courteous and professional manner

9. Protects patient confidentiality by making sure protected health information is secured by not leaving PHI in plain sight and logging off the computer before leaving it unattended.

10. Assists with working with required departments in ordering needed wound care supplies and equipment.

11. Assists with referring patients to Specialty clinics as needed for further consult with physicians.

12. Obtains consent and requests patient information from outside clinics involved in patient care.

13. Performs other duties as directed by Director of Wound Care.
