Job Description
40% Teaching
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in civil/transportation engineering. Develop courses and participate in curriculum development. Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students throughout the course of their studies.
40% Research
Perform and conduct research related to data-driven approaches to emerging technologies and smart mobility; transportation infrastructure systems related to connected and automated and/or electric vehicles; transportation engineering modeling, including optimization, networks, and operations; resilient transportation systems; sustainable transportation solutions; and/or efficient and safe movement of people and goods. Establish a strong research agenda leading to external grant support and publication in recognized refereed journals as well as participating in local, national and international professional conferences and other activities appropriate to the discipline. Supervise M.S. and Ph.D. studies.
20% Service
Perform service activities normally expected of university faculty commensurate with rank, including committee service to Department, School, and University. Also includes national and international service to the profession.
Required Qualifications
For the rank of Assistant Professor
* Earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely-related discipline at the time of appointment.
* Demonstrable expertise in the field of data-driven approaches to emerging technologies and smart mobility; transportation infrastructure systems related to connected and automated and/or electric vehicles; transportation engineering modeling, including optimization, networks, and operations; resilient transportation systems; sustainable transportation solutions; and/or efficient and safe movement of people and goods.
* Experience communicating ideas effectively and working well with others as demonstrated through application materials and interview.
* Demonstrated potential to develop an externally-funded research program and to design and teach high quality undergraduate and graduate courses.
For the rank of Associate Professor
* Earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely-related discipline.
* Demonstrated record of expertise the field of data-driven approaches to emerging technologies and smart mobility; transportation infrastructure systems related to connected and automated and/or electric vehicles; transportation engineering modeling, including optimization, networks, and operations; resilient transportation systems; sustainable transportation solutions; and/or efficient and safe movement of people and goods.
* Experience communicating ideas effectively and working well with others as demonstrated through application materials and interview.
* Demonstrated record of externally-funded research programs and designing and teaching high quality undergraduate and graduate courses.
For the rank of Full Professor
* Earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely-related discipline.
