Position Summary:
The Forensic Pathologist will perform functions of a pathologist performing post mortem examinations and associated work duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform primary functions as a forensic pathologist in accordance with industry standards to determine manner and cause of death in medical examiner cases.
- Meets or exceeds all regulatory and compliance standards as it relates to the medical and legal requirements of the office.
- Maintains all required licenses and accreditations consistent with the industry standards.
- Maintains individual continuing medical education and assures compliance with certification requirements.
- Assists in the training of new forensic pathologists, residents and assists with the educational programs with participating agencies.
- Reports to scene of investigation when requested and assists investigators in the management of the investigation.
- Works closely with outsourced independent contractors when needed for forensic pathology services such as odontology, anthropology, toxicology, histology, etc.
- Able to perform consultation work when requested.
- Must be able to provide reports and data in a comprehensive format.
Requirements
Education Required:
- Must possess degrees in MD or DO.
Job Related Experience:
- Must have three or more years' experience as a medical examiner.
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations affecting the operation of the Medical Examiner's office.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development sufficient to ensure organizational productivity.
- Skills in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational goals.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, government bodies, and the general public.
- Able to travel to other offices for support, training, or scientific presentations to clients.
