Qualifications:
  1. Professional Educator License with master's degree or equivalent in Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Curriculum, or related field.
  2. Must have a strong knowledge base of biliteracy and language acquisition and also have the skills needed to present and transfer knowledge to the staff.
  3. Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience preferred.
  4. Bilingual (Spanish) and English as a Second Language Endorsements required.

Goal: Through collaborative coaching and support, empower teachers to advance instructional practices in biliteracy and language acquisition to better prepare them to make decisions about student learning and language growth.
  1. Implements district and school-wide initiatives, such as dual language, balanced literacy, mathematical practices, technology integration, backwards design unit planning, and language development.
  2. Works with district administration to facilitate the alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  3. Provides leadership in district curriculum development and monitors implementation.
  4. Provides guidance and coaching to the literacy team, coaches, and specialists to support biliteracy and language acquisition practices at each building
  5. Provides guidance and coaching to staff by attending common plan times to support with language acquisition initiatives.
  6. Utilizes coaching cycles to support individual teachers to develop and reflect on instructional goals and student progress. Provides supportive instructional resources when available (including planning, modeling lessons, co-teaching, and giving feedback).
  7. Provides support to teachers to help with decision making around integrating technology with emergent bilingual learners to differentiate instruction and promote language growth.
  8. Assists in developing and facilitating professional development at a district and building level to deepen staff understanding of best practices in biliteracy and language acquisition.
  9. Works collaboratively and communicates effectively with administrators, teachers and other school staff to strengthen all aspects of the instructional program.
  10. Supports the implementation of Response to Intervention (RTI) in literacy with a focus on biliteracy.
  11. Collaborates with building level administrators, coaches, and specialists to set school based goals for student and staff needs.
  12. Analyzes data and identifies district trends in literacy and math for students in language acquisition programs.
  13. Facilitates regular coaching collaboration meetings to increase coaching capacity
  14. Engages in reflective practices to identify successes and challenges; participates in professional development, research, reading, and inquiry sessions to stay abreast of developments in best classroom practices, technology, assessment, and research with a focus on biliteracy and language acquisition.
  15. Performs other duties and assumes responsibilities as assigned in accordance with terms stipulated in the current contract.
