Long Island University is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to enhance our forward- thinking team. For role is perfectly suited for a Speech Clinician skilled in culturally and linguistically responsive care. Candidates with specialized areas of expertise in areas such as AAC, TBI, Craniofacial Anomalies, Parkinson's Disease, Transgender Voice Care, or other specific fields are encouraged to apply.

We seek a candidate who not only possesses extensive experience and expertise but also aligns with our commitment to inclusive and equitable education in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. The ideal candidate will be open to implementing a reflective model of supervision and be eager to collaborate with our students as partners in revolutionizing the field. This includes providing assessments and interventions from a neurodiversity and disability justice perspective through pre-service clinical education.

An essential aspect of this role is the ability to create and maintain an inclusive learning environment that values and leverages the diverse backgrounds of all our students and team members. We particularly value supervisors with bilingual proficiency, especially in languages like Arabic, Hebrew, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Yiddish.

Responsibilities- Clinical Education Supervision- Directly oversee and mentor graduate students in the speech and language pathology graduate program during their pre-service clinical practice, ensuring effective supervision of their clinical education and practical experiences in the clinic.

Reflective Supervision- Implement a Reflective Model of Supervision developed by the founders of the clinic that is based on building collaborative relationships between students and supervisors, ( eg. Walters and Geller, 2002).

Outcome Assessment and Evaluation- Regularly evaluate student performance, help develop clinical competencies, and maintain adherence to professional standards.

Accurate Documentation- Ensure diligent and timely record keeping of all supervisory activities, progress, and evaluations.

Faculty Collaboration- Collaborate with departmental faculty to synchronize clinical experiences with academic learning, work on research and inform strategic departmental planning.

Ongoing Professional Development- Keep updated with the latest trends in your field of expertise, clinical education in speech pathology.

Qualifications-

Masters or Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

ASHA Certification and State Licensure in Speech and Language Pathology.

Bilingual proficiency is desirable.

Expertise in culturally and linguistically responsive practice and/or other specialized expertise

Knowledge and expertise in the Reflective Model of Supervision

Strong organizational and communication skills

Dedicated to providing access and excellence in speech pathology education.

Interest in addressing speech pathology from a social justice perspective.
