Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located and worked within the SC Department of Mental Health - Inpatient Services at Bryan Psychiatric Hospital or C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center in Columbia, SC.

Under limited supervision the Food Services Specialist II - Dining works under the Dining & Catering Supervisor and/or Area Supervisor leading assigned staffing operation of food assembly in compliance with department, local, state, and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities of the Food Service Specialist II for Dining include but not limited to:

* Leads other staff in and operates all food rethermalization and refrigeration equipment to serve clients hot and cold meal requirements.
* Leads other staff in and verifies food service accuracy and follows all prescribed procedures and instructions.
* Leads other staff in and prepares, portions, assembles, and serves meals per menu specification.
* Leads other staff in and operates refrigeration, heating, and ware washing equipment to maintain safe temperature requirements. Keeps daily records of temperature charts.
* Leads other staff in and organizes the serving and maintenance of food operation and equipment.
* Leads other staff in and performs all ware washing, sanitation, and cleaning techniques to meet department standards.
* Trains new staff.

Three (3) positions available

Minimum and Additional Requirements

There are no minimum training and experience requirements for this class.

Preferred Qualifications

Possess a general knowledge of cafeteria style/mass food service operation, customer service application, and safe handling of food. Ability to lead staff in meeting required food production and solve problems that arise; general working knowledge of food service equipment.

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Additional Comments

Physical ability to manually lift 40 lbs. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, pull, push, climb stairs or stand for extended periods to of time. May encounter temperature ranging from 20 degrees F to 400 degrees F around equipment. This is an essential position during an emergency.
