Responsibilities

Works under direct supervision, performs technical, surgical scrubbing skills and responsibilities during operative procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patientsJob Duties include but are not limited to:• Utilizes proper technique when lifting, transferring, and ambulating patients for patient and staff safety• Ability to maintain calm in emergency situations• Provides basic, bedside care including proper positioning of the patient for surgery• Provides for accurate care and handling of surgical specimens• Inventories all items both pre and post surgery• Utilizes excellent customer service standards and Studer principles in communicating with patient, family, coworkers through use of verbal amenities, pleasant facial and body expressions as well as pleasant voice tone• Participates in departmental QA PI process and patient experience initiativesThis represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions. Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required:High school graduate or equivalent; on-the job training through organized training program; Desired:Graduate of accredited Surgical Technologist School; AHA BLS, Surgical Technologist certification.
