Position Duration:
The Collective Bargaining Agreement is 189 days in duration. However, the school psychologist position also has an additional 20 days that will be compensated at the per diem rate. In total, the school psychologist position is a 209 contract.

Qualifications:
The individual(s) selected for the position will have the necessary talent and skills to implement a successful and rewarding experience(s) for the students. The administration and the Board will always select the individual who is best suited for the program and who can carry out their role in keeping with the mission and vision of the school district. The candidate will possess the required clearances.

Professional Qualifications
Educational Qualifications:
  • Possess a master's degree with certification as a school psychologist as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Must be well-organized, instructional leader with strong management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of best practice in areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment relative to both elementary and secondary levels.

Organizational Relationship:
The District School Psychologist shall be directly responsible to the Special Education Director and Superintendent for the execution of all responsibilities listed herein.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Remains current about the standards, rules and regulations that apply to special education. Attends related professional education programs and makes recommendations for program improvements.
  • Within mandated time frames, conducts comprehensive psychological and psycho-educational assessments of students who are referred for multi-disciplinary evaluations.
  • Makes recommendations to the multi-disciplinary team regarding special education disabilities, disorders, and giftedness.
  • Develops the Evaluation Report for all initial referrals within mandated time frames and interprets results and implications to parents and professional staff. Consults with the appropriate learning support teacher to develop an IEP based upon the educational needs of the student.
  • Consults with counselors, learning support teachers, instructional support teacher and administrators in the development of reevaluation reports, IEPs, 504 Service Agreements, and Behavior Plans and assists with the interpretation of implications to parents and professional staff.
  • Conducts Behavior Manifestation Determinations, Functional Behavior Assessments, and assists in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans to promote positive behavior support.
  • Promote the development, implementation, and assessment of a standards-based curriculum in relation to progress monitoring and classroom interventions.
  • Consults with the special education teachers in their development of their reevaluation reports. For reevaluations, consults with the multi-disciplinary team to review existing evaluation data and identify if any additional data may be needed to determine continued need for special education and related services.
  • At the request of the special education director provides crisis intervention assessment, counseling as stated in student IEPS and consultation regarding serious behavior incidents.
  • Assists with in service training programs and special education parent programs, when requested.
  • Participates in secondary Student Assistance Team meetings and consults with secondary SAP faculty.
  • Completes other duties as assigned by the special education director.

Program and Staff Evaluation:
The successful candidate will be evaluated annually by the Special Education Director and Superintendent
