Job Summary: Performs sleep disorder testing.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Must complete the A-step modules within two years of hire date. Within six months of completing the A-step modules, must successfully become a registered sleep technologist (RPSGT).

Work Experience: 2 years previous Sleep Lab experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Sets up, monitors and unhooks patients during a sleep study. Performs NPSG, Split and CBE studies. Monitors and acquires accurate patient data during each study and makes appropriate adjustments to assure quality testing. Trouble shoots and remedies patient and equipment problems to assure a safe and accurate study. Scores studies in an accurate and timely manner. Obtains appropriate patient information and confirms the appropriate study is being done. Maintains needed certifications and attends meetings, in-services, and group leaning sessions to help educate self further in the field of Sleep Medicine.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
