Prepare, test, and set up anesthetic equipment; assists physicians and nurse anesthetists during anesthesia induction and recovery; clean and check for proper functioning of all anesthesia equipment; restock anesthesia supply and drug inventories in each operating room and main supply area.

Prepare, test and set up a variety of anesthetic equipment for surgical use. Troubleshoot equipment for problems and repairs.

Assist in maintaining adequate stock of anesthesia supplies and drugs; restock supply and drug inventories in each operating room; deliver supplies and equipment to appropriate locations including cardiac cath lab and dental clinic.

Assist physician and nurse anesthetist during the induction of anesthesia; hold oxygen masks on alert patients, place blood pressure cuffs, apply EKG leads, apply pulse oximeter probes, and place electrodes for nerve stimulation.

Assist in starting IVs, and placing central venous lines, and arterial lines; assemble necessary drugs, syringes, needles, etc, and open prepackaged sterile trays; assist the anesthesia provider by passing instruments, guide wires, and catheters; may assist in securing lines once in place and apply a dressing.

Clean all anesthesia equipment including specialized airway equipment; check and troubleshoot equipment for proper functioning.

Assist in positioning patients for the administration of regional, spinal and epidural anesthetics.

Assist in moving and positioning patients from operating room table to stretcher for transport.

Demonstrates knowledge of the age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families.

Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CCMC STANDARDS.

Education Required: High School Diploma or GED

Education Preferred: Successful completion of an Anesthesia Technician program or 2 years of OJT preferred.

Experience Preferred: Minimum 2 years' experience as an Anesthesia Technician preferred. Experience in respiratory therapy, central supply, operating room, or other hospital area preferred.
