Berkeley, United States Aircapture Full time
At Aircapture we're creating and scaling a circular carbon economy to solve what we believe to be our lifetime's most pressing challenge: the climate crisis. We supply commercial and industrial customers with clean CO2 captured from our atmosphere to radically improve the environment, our economy, and our lives. We value building a team of people who represent diverse backgrounds - be it thought, education, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation - to reach our goals. Thank you for considering us.

We are seeking postdoctoral researchers to model existing direct air capture (DAC) modular units, future DAC designs, condensers, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and microwave systems for CO2 capture. We are an early stage startup, a tight-knit team in West Berkeley dedicated to this most important work. This is a one year opportunity with the possibility of a subsequent engagement.

What You'll Do Here
  • Design and test novel direct air capture systems funded by the DOE in collaboration with the reputable universities and international corporations
  • Work on novel first of its kind technologies in the carbon capture space.
  • Model transient processes working with programs such as Aspen Plus
  • Generate CFD analysis optimizing DAC layout and arrangements

Your Skills and Abilities Include
  • PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry, or a related discipline and motivated by Aircapture's work to make atmospheric carbon dioxide removal at gigaton-scale
  • Motivation to move the direct air capture industry forward with the goal of generating publishable work
  • Motivation, curiosity, and the desire to pursue a project to its full potential
  • Interest in working at an innovative start-up that is creating and scaling a circular carbon economy
  • Technical communication skills, both verbal and written
