Description: An Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
- Uses a variety of assessment tools and practices to plan and evaluate effective reading instruction
- Creates a positive, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment
- Uses a wide range of research instructional practice, approaches, methods and curricular materials to support reading instruction
- Serve as a resource to the staff and school community
- Work cooperatively to plan programs to meet the needs of a diverse population
- Professional Educator License - Elementary (K-9)
- Reading Specialist endorsement preferred
- Minimum five years teaching experience preferred
- Experience with English Language Learners preferred
- Middle School Endorsement preferred
- Master's degree with concentration in reading education preferred
- Wilson trained preferred
- Assist with benchmark testing
- Review benchmark data
- Identify intervention needs through benchmark data analysis
- Design intervention groups based on students' needs
- Determine intervention program for students/grade level(s)
- Prepare daily lesson plans
- Research additional programs and tools; make recommendations to administration
- Progress monitor students who receive intervention
- Attend and participate in weekly Problem Solving Team (PST) meetings
- Attend and participate in Individual Problem Solving (IPS) meetings when appropriate
- Attend and participate in Building and District MTSS Team meetings
- Update the intervention tracker regularly with appropriate data
- Update first step forms with intervention information
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and interventionists
- Draft and prepare family communication to notify parents and guardians of intervention placement and progress
- Develop and lead effective professional development programs
Reporting Structure: Reports to building administration and Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Work Schedule: 7:45 am-3:10 pm (M, W, Th), 7:45 am-3:45 pm (T), 7:45 am-3:00 pm (F).
Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated as defined in the Skokie 73.5 PSRP Council agreement.
