    • Education
      • Required: EKG Class
      • Preferred: Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular or Medical Assistant program or on the job trainee with one (1) year experience.
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Heart Association BLS
    • Experience
      • Required: Six (6) months of EKG experience
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Obtains artifact-free electrocardiography.
    • Performs adequate holter monitors.
    • Demonstrates ability to "stand-by" in cardiac arrests (codes) or cardioversion.
    • Performs EKGs in codes or cardioversion.
    • Performs holter scanning on all recordings including pacer.
    • Downloads EKG's into the MUSE system and prepare the EKG's for the physicians.
    • Performs stress testing procedures.
    • Prepares the patient's room and equipment for the electrocardiography.
    • Prepares the patient according to the test being performed and confirm the status of skin allergies with patients.
    • Documents and processs procedures on a daily basis in the database.
    • Process billing charges or credits on a daily basis.
    • Performs photocopying, filing, charting of reports in patients medical record as needed.
    • Completes the care and operation of EKG equipment according to technical specifications and application of equipment.
    • Maintains clean, well-stocked equipment with supplies and "in good working order " after each shift.
    • Reports any unsafe or mal-functioning equipment to Bio-med and takes the necessary step in processing reported equipment.
    • Provides teaching and educational material to the patient and or significant others concerning electrocardiography.
    • Self-sufficient in seeking resource; may have specialized skills; demonstrates significant problem solving skills with Cardiology modalities in the clinical setting.
    • Complies with policies; uses discretion and follows through with areas of concern.
    • Adheres to hospital infection control guidelines, body mechanics and safety, equipment usage and care.
    • Completes tasks in allotted time at the end of each shift.
    • When team leading:
      • Provides timely feedback to the team concerning performance.
      • Allocates resources according to priorities.
      • Works within the boundaries of department budget.
      • Communicates with personnel and promotes teamwork.
      • Recommends and insures appropriate staffing levels.
    • Performs other duties as requested.
