The CDL A Reefer Hazmat Truck Driver transports various materials, both hazardous and non-hazardous material to, from and within customer facilities and storage utilizing a variety of heavy vehicles and trailers.

CDL Truck Driver Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • The main responsibility of a refrigerated truck driver is to safely transport freight that must be kept under refrigerated conditions.
  • Drives in accordance with all state, local and federal laws and regulations at all times.
  • Monitoring freight throughout the trip
  • Loads and unloads trailer, either individually or with assistance, with or without mechanical handling equipment.
  • Records hours of service via an electronic log.
  • Maintains vehicle interior and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Performs visual inspections of assets prior to leaving the facility, throughout the shift and upon return.
  • Communicates any vehicle or equipment damage to maintenance before loading via use of an electronic log.
  • Utilizes safe driving skills in maneuvering at varying speeds in a variety of situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather and tight spaces.
  • Completes all documentation and data entry associated with inspection reports, work orders, shipping documents and other project notes in an accurate manner.
  • Communicates any and all accidents and/or incidents immediately.
  • Troubleshoots and eliminates problems via individual initiative or via teamwork in tandem with dispatch and/or maintenance.
  • Maintains professionalism in interactions with customers and members of the public.

CDL Truck Driver Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A required
  • Hazmat required
  • 2+ years proven experience in commercial truck driving preferred
  • Clean driving record with no moving violations
  • Must pass background check and drug test
  • Skilled at driving and parking large, heavy vehicles
  • Alert, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time
  • Possess great physical stamina and focus during long driving shifts
  • Able to operate electric lift, hand trucks, pallet jacks, etc.
  • Proficient using GPS and other routing systems
  • Map reading and route planning experience
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • High level of composure and good stress management

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time, hourly position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday. Flexibility is required as job duties demand.
