Summary: Registered Nurse who is fundamental to the development, implementation and evaluation of the Trauma Program.# This position will coordinate the care of the trauma patient using an interdisciplinary approach in accordance with the requirements of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma.# In addition to administrative duties, serves as liaison between all members of the Trauma Team from pre-hospital care through emergency services, acute care services and throughout the continuum of care.# Represents Regional One Health at regional and state Trauma meetings.# Assumes day to day responsibility for process and performance improvement activities as they relate to nursing and ancillary personnel and assist the Trauma Director in carrying out the same functions for the physicians.# Responsibilities include administrative, program initiatives, clinical education, research and community outreach. # Education Requirement:# Graduate of an approved Nursing program.# BSN required, MSN, MBA, MHA preferred.# # # Experience Requirement:# Three to five (3-5) years clinical experience in trauma/emergency care required.# Public Relations experience preferred.## Flexibility in scheduling is required as this position requires working on evening/nights and on occasional weekends when working with new orientees.# A high degree of self-motivation is required to direct, plan and implement programs. # Licensure/Certification Requirement: Current license to work as registered Nurse in TN.# BLS, ACLS and TNCC/ATCN required.# ACLS and TNCC/ATCN may be obtained in the first six (6) months.# Instructor status in TNCC or ATCN is preferred. Qualified by education, training, or experience to work with the adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates. Provides and documents trauma nursing care to include all components of the nursing process and in accordance with written clinical and administrative procedures. Assesses the need for policies, procedures, protocols, supplies and equipment relating to the care of trauma patients in coordination with the Trauma Medical Director, hospital administration and clinicians. Identifies the need for and coordinates the development and implementation of clinical pathways for trauma patient populations incorporating members from the multidisciplinary team. Develops policies and procedures based on current literature, input from clinicians and other sources, such as information from patient care evaluations. Serves as a resource for clinical practice. Research Activities: Involvement in research selection, analysis, and distribution of findings and facilitating protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback and analysis. # Staff Development/Education: Develops, coordinates and implements orientation, nursing education and in-service programs related to care and management of trauma patients in conjunction with the Department of Education and Training. Directs community trauma education and prevention programs by developing, implementing and evaluating programs for targeted populations in the city and surrounding communities related to injury prevention, as well as other topics identified through a needs assessment for the community. Participates in mandatory educational activities and in educational activities appropriate to professional goals. Participates in case review. # Performance Improvement Activities: Assists the Trauma Medical Director, Trauma Program Director and hospital administration in the development, implementation and evaluation of a quality plan that is multidisciplinary and focused on patient outcomes. Serves as the coordinator of the identification, investigation, reporting and follow-up of incidents and quality issues throughout the program, while maintaining confidentiality. Provide day to day responsibility for process and PI activities, allowing the PI Coordinators to function as a surrogate for the TPM in clinical review. # Trauma Registry: In coordination with the Lead Trauma Registry Analyst, supervises the collecting, coding, scoring and developing of processes for validation of data entered into the registry. In coordination with the Lead Trauma Registry Analyst, designs the registry to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports and research, while protecting confidentiality. # Administrative Responsibilities: Represents the Trauma Program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management. Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel and financial aspects of the Trauma Program. Supervises adherence to hospital policies and procedures and standards through observation, medical record review, staff feedbacks and other appropriate sources. Supervises the Trauma Services staff. # Consultant Liaison: Serves as the internal resource for staff in all departments to network in order to provide high-quality trauma patient care. # Acts as an extended liaison for Emergency Medical Services agencies and the community. Develops inter-facility systems with other providers through procedure consistency, communication systems and processes which would enhance the quality of care for trauma patients. # Community/National Involvement in Trauma Care Systems: Participates in the development of trauma care systems at the community, state and/or national levels. # Compiles, prepares and analyzes various reports, statistics and data.# Conducts and assists in the preparation and presentation of data. Utilizes computer and information systems to enter format and retrieve data, generate statistics, computations, tables, charts and graphs. Utilizes analytic skills and statistical analysis to aggregate data to assist with the identification of potential problems and patterns, trends, establish priorities and recommend improvement activities. Education Requirement:

Three to five (3-5) years clinical experience in trauma/emergency care required. Public Relations experience preferred. Flexibility in scheduling is required as this position requires working on evening/nights and on occasional weekends when working with new orientees. Licensure/Certification Requirement:

Current license to work as registered Nurse in TN. BLS, ACLS and TNCC/ATCN required. ACLS and TNCC/ATCN may be obtained in the first six (6) months. Instructor status in TNCC or ATCN is preferred.
