ABOUT THE ROLE: The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) at Helping Hand School will engage, instruct, and play with students to work on day-to-day living and academic skills, implement Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions, collect data on their progress and behavior management and be a trusted member of the student's school team. The RBT reports to the supervising BCBA in accordance with stated policies and procedures.
SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
- On-site position, weekdays, 37.5 hours per week
- Salary range $22.50-$24.00/hour (Non-exempt). Salary based on skills and experience.
- Up to 6% annual bonus potential.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:
- Work with students in the classroom one on one or in groups as assigned by the teacher and BCBA.
- Respond to a situation requiring behavioral support in or out of their assigned classroom, or complete tasks assigned by the BCBA.
- Show flexibility in working in multiple settings in the school as assigned for behavioral support.
- Implement behavior and teaching strategies as outlined in the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and behavior plan as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the individual's interdisciplinary/educational team and attend all team meetings and training as required.
- Collect data regarding students' behaviors through direct observation.
- Communicate data and interventions professionally and efficiently to the student's team and caregivers.
- Assist BCBAs as directed with behavior reduction assessments and behavior plans.
- Assist with providing formal and informal training to classroom teams and families regarding ABA strategies as needed.
- Complete corresponding paperwork for behavioral interventions in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Input weekly student behavior data when assigned.
- Ensure that students are in a safe and positive environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
LAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Active Registered Behavior Technician with the BACB.
- Maintain yearly RBT re-certification and abide by RBT code of ethics.
Experience:
- Experience working with children and adults ages 3 - 22 years.
- Experience with autism spectrum disorders and other diagnosis (I.e., Intellectual disability, Developmental delay, etc.).
Skill Sets:
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Proficient and comfortable with technology such as Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, etc.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent time management skills, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.
- Sound organizational skills and ability to multitask and prioritize multiple urgencies as required.
- Must be able to maintain student and client confidentiality.
- Ability to promote and adhere to company values.
- A commitment to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
- Ability to fulfill all necessary training requirements of the agency, including but not limited to crisis management (crisis management training includes de-escalation strategies and physical management techniques).
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This position requires team members to work with students who may become physically aggressive.
- Capability to lift and assist students with physical needs, which may require moderate physical exertion.
- Flexibility to work in any classroom as assigned.
- Desire to take leadership and initiative in all aspects of the job.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the entire team to ensure safe and efficient delivery of services while utilizing strong conflict management and team building skills.
- Maintain an assigned workspace in a clean and organized manner as well as maintain professional and appropriate appearance.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the school to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
- Consistently position self to maintain files in cabinets or assist students or other members of the team. May require the ability to sit, stand, and move around the school for extended periods of time.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in all situations.
