  • Job Summary
    • The Surgical Technician assists in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons and registered nurses and assists in providing an efficient, safe, and supportive environment for the surgical patient and assumes appropriate responsibilities in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases. The surgical technician is responsible for preparing the operating room by setting up the equipment and sterilizing tools that are necessary for the operation. The Technician is also responsible for ensuring all equipment is working properly which may involve the assemble of some materials. The surgical technician is also responsible for passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
  • Job Requirements
    • Minimum Education Requirement
      • Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or LPN nursing program.
    • Minimum Experience Requirement
      • Possess a thorough understanding of surgical principles, AAMC and Surgical Services policies and procedures. Demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care in the perioperative setting. Communication skills to relate to patient/significant other/staff/physicians and work effectively with people. Possesses organizational skills necessary in a fast paced, acute care setting. Prefer (1) year clinical experience in surgical setting. Basic computer skills needed.
    • Minimum License Requirement
      • Certified Surgical Technologist required - Course completion in Basic Life Support per Policy & Procedure.
    • Physical Requirement/Working Conditions
