Job Description

Work Schedule:

90% FTE, 36 hours/week. 8-hour day shifts scheduled between the hours of 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. No weekends required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist - Diagnostic to:
  • Work for an ECMO Center of Excellence and a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Perform various testing, such as spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity, respiratory muscle forces and impulse oscillometry to help determine the course of treatment, guide medication changes, and clearance for surgery.
  • Provide aerosolized medication, volume expansion, airway clearance techniques, tracheostomy cares and sputum inductions to patients.
  • Educate patients and their family about existing health problems and related therapies, diagnostic tests, oxygen therapy and home equipment.
  • Collaborate with physicians, care team leaders, staff nurses, other caregiving disciplines, and patients/families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care for each patient.

Education:

Minimum - Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited School for Respiratory Care.

Preferred - Completion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) education course. Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy.

Work Experience:

Minimum - Experience performing spirometry.

Preferred - Experience performing pulmonary function testing beyond spirometry.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum -
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the State of Wisconsin
  • BLS/CPR Certified
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) within 1 year of hire.
  • Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) within 2 years of hire.

Preferred -
  • ACLS certified
  • National Asthma Educator certification
